BREAKING; Jubilation as Gov Obaseki’s Deputy, Shuaibu is set to dump PDP

There is wild jubilation in Edo state on Monday over reports that Comrade Phillip Shaibu, the deputy governor of the state has concluded plans to dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

It was gathered that Shaibu’s grouse centred on the refusal of the State Governor, Godwin Obaseki to appoint a cabinet one year after his election into office for a second term.

A close confidant of the deputy governor who spoke on the development on condition of anonymity said Shaibu has been appealing to the Governor to appoint those who laboured for their victory in the last governorship election, but Obaseki won’t budge.

He said “Yes, that is the true position of things now. He is leaving the PDP. Many people in Edo state are not happy that there is no cabinet in place one year after the governor was sworn-in for second term. For one year, those who voted and suffered to give the governor victory are not yet appointed”.

“The deputy governor is not fighting for himself; he is fighting for the masses. He is addressed as a ‘comrade’ because that is what his life is all about; fighting for the masses and demanding justice for the oppressed in the society. He has been prevailing on the governor to appoint people who worked for him but he (Obaseki) has refused to listen”.

“Many people spent money, risked their lives while some sold their properties to mobilise for the governor’s victory in the last election, yet they are now left in the lurch after the governor secured victory”. is the justification for Obaseki not forming his cabinet? Many people in Edo believe it is wickedness, especially when you consider the fact that 14 assembly members are yet to be inaugurated since 2019”.

“There is wild jubilation in Edo now over the reports that the deputy governor wants to leave. Many people believe the governor is acting like a dictator. People are saying it is good that the deputy governor should separate himself so that people will not use what is happening now to condemn his political future that it is him and the governor who connived to deny people of appointments”.

Meet The Only Woman Who Gave Birth To A President, Vice-President, Governor And A Minister.

How much more can a woman be blessed? Though we will agree that God has blessed all its creatures with special gifts, we cannot but accept the obvious truth that some persons are highly favoured. This is more like a law of nature. Well, your pick of whom God has blessed enormously might differ from mine. Nevertheless, “Hajiya Dada” would always stand as one Noble woman that God has favoured.

Who’s Hajiya Dada?
Hajiya Dada is a strong and brave woman from Katsina whose womb has produced prominent and dignified personality in Nigeria’s political landscape. Right from her husband, most men and women that came from her pedigree were all influential people in the society. Mama gave birth to a one time president, governor, minister and first ladies.

Hajiya Dada’s Pedigree

Late Alhaji Musa Yaradua was her husband, Daddy was the former Minister of Lagos Affair where he submissively served his country in love.

Hajiya gave birth to Late President Umaru Musa Yaradua who’s praised as one of the best president Nigeria ever produced. Just two years of exemplary leadership earned Yaradua praises among Nigerians, even up till today. His sudden death remains forever a huge and disastrous death to the country. May his soul rest in peace! Umaru Musa Yaradua

Also mama gave birth to Late General Shehu Musa who was the vice president to Obasanjo military led junta. The duo served meritoriously ushering Nigeria into a democratic government.

General Shehu Musa Yaradua

Likewise, Colonel Abdul’aziz Yaradua contested for Katsina gubenatorial election twice under CPC and APC in 2011, 2015.

One of Mama Grandson was Murtala Shehu Yaradua was a former Nigeria minister (Minister of Defence State).

BREAKING: Two Weeks After Death, Captain Hosa Okunbo’s Family Put Up His Multibillion Naira Hotel For Sale

No doubt the death of Captain Hosa Wells Okunbo which many are yet to come to terms with on account of what he represented in the lives of his family, friends and associates is likely to throw up some dilemmas on how to manage his monstrous assets as well as some changes that are likely to shock a few and not go down well with others.

One of such changes which has already been decided on, barely two weeks after his death, is the sale of his Abuja based luxury hotel, The Wells Carlton Hotel and Apartments.

ENLIGHTENMENT gathered from reliable sources that at a meeting which had in attendance Okunbo’s family members including his US based wife, Nosa whom he parted ways with in controversial circumstances and reconciled with before his passing, the family resolved to put the hotel up for sale. What must have promoted this decision is yet unknown even as what the family plans to do with the proceeds from the sale of the hotel remains a mystery. No doubt, decisions are being reached on what to do with his remaining assets even as the family bicker over them.

The Wells Carlton Hotel and Apartments was commissioned in December 2018 after nine years of painstaking investment of time, energy and resources. A multi-billion-naira luxury investment, it is located in the highbrow area of Asokoro, Abuja. It is a sprawling 55 room facility with avant-garde bars and four world-class restaurants, state of the art gym, an Olympic-sized swimming pool, a Japanese/Indonesian spa etc.

The Edo-born businessman died at the age of 63 in a London hospital after a one-year battle with pancreatic cancer. His health had reportedly improved and he planned to return to the country just in time for his son in-law, Tsola Emiko’s coronation as the new Olu of Warri on Saturday August 21.

BREAKING: Obaseki Receives Atiku, Ooni Of Ife, Seeks Improved Collaboration With Traditional Institutions To Tackle Insecurity, Others

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has called for increased collaboration between governments at all levels and the traditional institution to tackle the problem of insecurity and other challenges confronting the country.

Obaseki made the call when he received the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, who was on a courtesy visit at the Government House Benin City, on Monday, August 23, 2021.

The governor also received in audience former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

Obaseki, who identified insecurity and food challenges as some of the biggest problems facing the nation, noted that working with the traditional institution, governments at all levels “will be able to tackle these issues which will lead to the economic development of the nation.”

According to him, “One of the biggest challenges that we have today is insecurity, as hoodlums terrorise our lives in various communities across the country.

“If we must tackle the security challenges facing this country, Government must work very closely with the traditional authorities who are well-grounded in the grassroots and know the people well to bring to an end the security challenges facing this country. We are already doing that in Edo State and the results are there to show.”

The governor continued: “The economy of our country is not doing well and we all have a big role to play. Without us producing more for ourselves, we wouldn’t be able to sustain our current level of imports.

“It means that we will not be able to get sufficient foreign exchange to bring in what we consume. The exchange rate will begin to rise, the price of commodities will continue to go up and our people will dive more into poverty.

“The traditional institution has a role to play, as we encourage our people to farm and produce more foods to feed ourselves. In the first half of this year, we have spent N1 trillion naira importing food and it’s not sustainable.

“Government cannot do it alone; we encourage our young people to know that agriculture is a viable business in the country,” he added.

Reassuring his government’s commitment to sustain the partnership with the traditional institution in the state, Obaseki stated: “We embrace the traditional institution in Edo State as they have a deep sense of understanding of the challenges and problems in our local communities.

“Edo State is the home of culture and tradition and we don’t joke with it. We hold our traditional institutions in high regard and will do all to protect, sustain and support them.”

The governor further commended the Ooni for his passion and commitment to the unity and development of the country.

Commending Atiku for his contributions to the advancement of the country’s democracy, Obaseki said,”I cannot thank you enough for the leadership that you continue to provide; the counsel you gave me during my electioneering, the private conversations, and the assistance you rendered to me when we joined the party; we had challenges, but you stepped up and threw your weight behind the resolution of the issues.”

Earlier, the Ooni of Ife congratulated the governor on his victory in the September 19, 2020 gubernatorial election, hailing his government’s developmental strides across all sectors of the state.

He assured the governor that traditional rulers will continue to work with constituted authorities to move the nation forward, and advised him not to be distracted but to remain focused and double his efforts in making life better for Edo people, particularly the youths.

On his part, Abubakar said his meeting with the governor centered on governance, current issues in the country, and how the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) could be strengthened to take over power in 2023.
